Michael and Nancy Mandell, Couple of the Year 2009-2010

Nancy and I joined Gold Wing Road Riders Association in 2002 after purchasing two GL 1800s. Immediately we became involved with NJ-F, affectionately known as F-Troop, which is easily recognized by our “RED” shirts, smiling faces, proud and loud demeanor and constant laughing; everyone knows when F-Troop is in “the house.”

Our fondness grew with our responsibilities as Ride Coordinators, Chapter Educators, Assistant Chapter Directors and then, Chapter Directors. With a desire to do even more for our chapter and district we became Rider Education presenters, certified in the Leadership Training Program and certified to teach Medic First Aid and C.P.R.

We were appointed N.J. District Trainers, became senior trainers and facilitated and presented Horizon Programs within NJ as well as in neighboring districts.

We were asked to represent Chapter F as their Chapter Couple. This was the most valued title we have held in GWRRA for it was one bestowed upon us by our friends and extended family. We were fortunate enough to be selected as the N.J. District and then the N.E. Region B Couple of The Year 2009-10.

Currently we are the N.J. Assistant District Directors as well as the BikeMS District Coordinators. We continue to present seminars for Rider Ed and Leadership Training along with CPR/First Aid.

I purchased a new Titanium Gl-1800 in 2006 and Nancy bought a new Blue GL-1800 in 2007.
We are both level 4’s in the Rider Ed program and take riding courses every year to minimize our level of risk while riding our motorcycles.
We enjoy visiting chapters, districts and attending numerous events throughout the country while promoting Gold Wing Road Riders Association and the core values of “Fun, Safety and Knowledge.”
